My Students

I teach six amazing students with autism. My students are bright, vivacious and caring. They come to school every day eager to learn and interact with their peers. My class requires individualized instruction with a lot of supports and supplements to meet their learning needs. They learn best when curriculum is presented in many modalities to engage all of their senses. They work so hard to overcome challenges everyday and are an inspiration to all. It is an honor to be able to work with these wonderful children.

My Project

An iPad will give my students a new way to learn and engage with the curriculum. They can play educational games and activities that correlate to the material we are currently learning. They can watch videos to reinforce new skills. Using different forms of presentation in our classroom will augment instruction and make learning exciting.

An iPad can give my nonverbal students a voice.

My students can use the iPad to support their language development. There are many language acquisition apps that can be utilized to give them a method to express themselves independently. It can strengthen language skills and ensure my students' success.
