My Students

The world is changing and with that change comes new and exciting ways to teach children with Autism. Technology is truly the key when it comes to motivating students with Autism to learn.

The ABA students are a group of students with Autism who spend the majority of their day in the ABA Center and with some time in general education.

In the ABA center they participate in discrete trial training to learn new academic skills. Discrete trial training is often tedious but it is very effective. There are amazing new applications on the iPad that use discrete trial training. I would love to incorporate the use of iPads into our discrete trial training sessions.

My Project

Our center is requesting two mini iPads and two cases to protect the iPads from damage. The students will be able to access many applications that focus solely on learning for academics, such as math, reading, phonics, language and social skills. I plan to collect data to see at what rate the students learn using the iPads verses traditional teaching methods!

I have found that the rate of learning is accelerated when using cutting edge applications that are available on the iPads.

This will make such a difference in our students lives and really change the way I am able to run centers within my classroom.
