They gravitate towards the area every day. While it is still a work in progress we are so happy with how it's coming out. In my first year of teaching in special education, I have learned how critical it is to help the social emotional learning of a neurodivergent child. Sometimes coming into school can be stressful and chaotic and they need a place where they can feel comfortable and happy. When I got the donations, my students were immediately drawn in and I knew I had to step it up.\r\n\r\nI have moved the area around and added plushies, pillows, books, sensory toys, and lights to make this calming corner cozy. I cannot wait in the next upcoming days how my students will react. I have a couple of students who I know will be reinforced to work on their academic & social goals just to hang out in this corner like some did last year when I only had the rug, bench, and couch.\r\n\r\nI have a good feeling that this upcoming school year and my second year of teaching, we will have a great year.
