My students are a mix of Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students who love to learn and play. My school is over 70% reduced or free lunches. My class is 72% second language learners and also includes students with disabilities. My students are excited to learn and love using technology during their school day. They love science and the opportunity to deeply engage with it would be amazing for them.
My school has been in this neighborhood for over 70 years.
I attended this school myself and teach in the same classroom I was in back in 1965! The school remains a fixture in the neighborhood, playing a greater role than ever in the lives of the children in the neighborhood with a before school and multiple after-school programs. We service a large immigrant population with four home languages spoken within my 25 student class.
My Project
This project will allow me to have an iPad station for students to access during independent work time. It will also greatly improve my ability to differentiate during small group instruction and intervention. Using the iPad the students will have more exposure to science materials on-line. They will be able to go on Mystery Science and try out experiments.
Learning needs to be hands on and engaging!
On the MyMath web site, the students will have the opportunity to practice math skills using manipulatives to support their learning according to their own levels. They will also have the opportunity to practice letters and numbers on ABCya and Starfall. Please help us build our iPad Super Station.
