Our school serves nearly 600 students. 48% are Caucasian, 30% African American, 13% Hispanic, 2% Asian, & 7% other. 61% are free-and-reduced household income qualifiers. 11% of our population are English language learners and 13% are Special Education learners. This data is a snapshot from Oct. 1, 2016. My students are very representative of this demographic. I have 24 students. 13 are girls and 11 are boys. 65% of my students are of a minority race and come from low socioeconomic status.
Technology is a HUGE part of the world we live in! I use technology to differentiate instruction and make learning meaningful and fun! Currently, we don't have enough reliable technology in our classroom. I need 8 reliable technology devices to meet the needs of all of my students on any given day during math and reading group rotations. Currently, we are using 4 desktops and 3 iPads (one of which is terribly cracked and in very poor condition.) I need one more iPad in my classroom to effectively meet the needs of my students during daily reading and math rotations.
