My music students work hard every day to learn despite economic status which allows them all to qualify for free lunch. The city public school where I teach serves 500 young musicians, about 85% of whom are African-American.
All of my kindergarten-6th grade students are excited by musical experiences, whether it is the use of instruments, games, and manipulatives in class, or performance field trips and guest musicians.
They also need to interact with technology to add to that excitement.
An iPad would allow me more focus on my students in every lesson, and will especially help me lead each of our annual all-school programs. I will have control of our accompaniment while keeping my students' attentions! I will also be able to offer my students many new interactive opportunities using this incredible tool.
With better control of each lesson and our significant performances, I can more effectively guide my students' growth.
With access to new, engaging applications like Quaver, the students will more excitedly fuel their own growth. Excitement like that can give struggling students a reason to attend and try in school.
