When you open the door of my kindergarten classroom, you often see movement, social interaction, creative learning and collaboration. Often my students face challenges at home and at school that many adults have never had to face. My students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds with a majority of them at the poverty level. Our school provides two meals a day and a weekend meal program for students in many classrooms. Some of my students are forced to overcome the language barrier at a young age. They do this with grace and ease and are such an inspiration to me.
When entering my classroom, you will see a busy community of learning with many moving parts.
Every student learns in a different way so there are many different learning opportunities taking place. Stations will be full of students manipulating tools to expand their learning. Small groups may form to work on areas that need expanded or more explanation. The classroom will transform into what the students need in order to make sure that all students are learning.
My Project
Using technology is something that we all do on a daily basis. Some of my students are better at it than I am! As a teacher finding enriching ways to incorporate it into the classroom is a challenge. I want to use technology on a daily basis that supports the needs that my students have and helps them to expand their level of learning.
By providing funding to my project, you will help create a math station that will allow my students to practice math problems that are based on classroom learning.
There is an app that is provided by the math curriculum that will allow another opportunity to practice classroom learning. I will also be able to add more apps that are related to our math learning to help enrich the students learning.
The use of this iPad will allow me to keep changing the goals and tools the students see on a weekly basis. The apps will be able to be differentiated easily. There is little storage space required and the iPad can be easily moved to accommodate the student/s that need to use it at that time.
