My Students

I teach Virtual Special Education classes. Most of my students are with me for 6 of the 7 class periods. A few come to me for several class periods but are able to handle the typical classroom setting in health and/or electives. Since my students are in front of a computer all day, they need a place to relax and unwind when they finish their work. I don't want them to have to sit at computer for long periods of time, so I would love to be able to offer them an iPad or tablet to bring to a comfortable area in the room to do their work. The students work very hard to complete their virtual assignments each day. They need to be rewarded with educational relaxing time.

My Project

I teach Virtual Special Education Classes. I would like to connect the iPad to the Smartboard to take my students to another world using aps like TED, Khan Academy, Moby Max, San Diego Zoo (live cam), and many more. When my students need a break from sitting in a hard chair and working on the computer, they will be able to meet in the comfy sitting area, get comfortable, and engage in educational activities using the iPad. QR codes will be posted for student's station information. I do not have any iPads in my classroom at all. We need at least one to enhance the technology aspect of student engagement.
