iPad Gave Spark

My students need an iPad to complete academic tasks while confined to a wheelchair.

My Students

My class contains autistic, physically handicapped and multi handicapped students. Like all students, they become so excited when they achieve learning goals or can relate to an academic task we are teaching to them. Squeals of laughter are sometimes the only communication some have.

In the course of the day, our students shower us with phenomenal sparks of learning!

My special needs students truly have "special needs" which involve learning techniques designed just for them. Their eyes light up when we have found that spark.

My Project

The use of my personal iPad produced a spark in the performance of a severely handicapped student who did not respond well to educational tasks.

After less than one year of the use of my personal iPad, this physically handicapped child is now pointing toward the iPad to touch the screen in use of all the academic apps we have downloaded for her.

She is now responding to all the academics we are introducing to her. The personal iPad we have been using was an older model and it has recently stopped working, so I am requesting a new iPad Pro tablet. The staff and her parents are excited to see her growth.
