I've now had the privilege of understanding when a teacher would call us "my kids." I truly understand what that term of endearment means. My students are "my kids." I revel in their innocence, their senses of humor, and their eagerness for more information.
Regardless of attending a Title I school with many economically disadvantaged peers, my students come to class every morning and greet me with smiles and hugs.
We take care of each other and definitely consider ourselves a family.
Let’s face it...classrooms need technology in order to better engage students in 21st-century learning. My project, if funded, consists of an iPad and an Otterbox case to keep it safe. I am trying to get a device for each one of my learners so that we can use all of the tools in our new digital learning toolbox! It is especially important to me that I procure enough devices so that the sharing of devices is limited due to Covid-19.
This iPad will provide my students additional opportunities to enjoy learning programs that are better suited on iOS devices as opposed to a standard tablet.
My students absolutely love iReady reading and math. In fact, they beg to do it! They never have a week where they’ve not earned all of their minutes; however, many have to complete it at home due to limited access in the classroom. They also love Get Epic!, an online catalog of books that cater to all Lexiles and reading abilities as well as Gimkit, a Kahoot-style game where students answer various academic questions to earn virtual money and support financial literacy education! Please consider supporting this project to help me provide more for my students! Thank you!
