Help me give my students with dyslexia access to an intervention system that is only available on the IOS operating system. A large screen iPad will make our intervention more accessible to these already challenged students.

My Students
Our school is over 60% economically disadvantaged. Our school is 45% Hispanic 35% African-American and 20% other. Our school has the lowest socio-economic status in the district. Our school has the highest special education population in our district. Our school has the highest population of the non-native English speakers. And despite all these challenges, our school meets all the educational standards of the state of Texas.
Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability.
Dyslexia refers to a cluster of symptoms, which result in people having difficulties with specific language skills, particularly reading. Students with dyslexia usually experience difficulties with other language skills, such as spelling, writing, and pronouncing words.
Economically disadvantaged students that are dyslexic are eager to learn and adapt to new challenges but resources are limited and certain programs are only available to them on particular operating systems which we simply do not have available to us.
My Project
Dyslexic students in my district receive special instruction from an intervention system called Barton. Barton provides a multi-sensory instruction to the students who are struggling to learn due to the way their brain interprets information. Most students are identified and assisted as early elementary students. However, there are students who are not identified until late middle school and even high school. When these students are late identified, intervention becomes vastly more crucial and more exceedingly more difficult. The Barton system is available on the IOS operating system and making it available to those students will be vital to encouraging their academic success.
By providing my students with access to a large screen iPad, you will allow them to open their mind to all academic material that their condition makes so difficult to learn.
The large screen IPad will display the letters and syllables in a way that makes it easier for my students to learn how to decode and read like their classmates.
This project specifically targets the few students that have struggled and fought to proceed in academic learning and yet were not discovered to have dyslexia until late. They need the intervention and they need it in a way that does not make them feel excluded from their classmates. The IPad will make that a real possibility.
