We are a second grade inclusion classroom with a mixture of general education and special needs students in a high needs area in the Bronx. My students are a group of diverse learners, with a wide range of abilities.
Many of my students enjoy being in school and coming into my classroom every day; they see it as a consistent part of their lives.
With their desire to learn and the effort they put forth, these children inspire me every day.
Being a Title I school, the majority of students come from low-income homes, shelters, or from homes with limited parental involvement, but they are enthusiastic and come to school every day ready to learn. They see school as a consistent part of their daily lives and love to make me proud. My students are some of the happiest children I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and they inspire me to provide the best education I can for them.
My Project
Apple's iPads are powerful educational tools for classrooms. They engage students and improve education efficiency and standards through websites and apps. iPads allow students to watch educational videos and play interactive games at their level.
My ADHD students will greatly benefit from having an Apple iPad in the classroom for many reasons.
iPads are a wonderful resource for students who have and show signs of ADHD. Soothing music helps them to stay on task, we would use this iPad so they may listen to their music while they are in their work space. I would also use this iPad as a reward for staying on task and completing a task.
They are portable and can be used in any part of the classroom. There are so many educational apps that help strengthen their classroom skills such as math, literacy, science and social studies. Another reason is that students enjoy working with each other to beat their levels through educational games. Students with ADHD focus better and stay on task with technology. I have discovered that it is a great way to challenge students on all levels.
