My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds. We are a creative arts school so we have students who enjoy expressing themselves in many different ways, from art projects and composing music to dancing or starring in our spring musical. The students are all extremely creative, open-minded thinkers.

I work in a public school in Michigan.

Almost all of our students receive breakfast and lunch every day, as well as food from Kids Food Basket to take home at night. Despite some of the obstacles our students face every day, they are eager to learn and extremely talented.

My Project

My school is implementing the International Baccalaureate curriculum and in order to be able to give the students hands-on, collaborative learning experiences, I need more resources!

As we go through each year and make changes to our units and learn new things from teaching our units, we find we need more materials to implement activities.

We will be incorporating Spanish into everything we do and the Spanish posters will help to add a visual around the room for the students. It will also prompt me to use the language continuously throughout the day. The number line will help the students with their independent writing and counting across the curriculum.

I am slowly trying to build my classroom resources to help the students become natural inquirers and develop skills they will need to become open-minded thinkers and help them become global learners. We will use them in our science lessons, to help integrate Spanish into everything we are doing, and for exploration during free choice. These awesome materials will help the students be more engaged in our learning!
