My Project

A survey conducted by the United States Census Bureau found that school children who take part in a sport are 11.1% more likely to be highly engaged in school than children who don’t. Also, participation in team athletics can lead to better academic performance, which goes hand-in-hand with building character, leadership skills, higher confidence, and self-esteem. The self-confidence that students gain will help them to succeed academically, in the classroom, and their personal lives.

The funding for this project would support an inner-city, Title 1 school that serves a diverse population of students.

The items purchased as a result of this project will be directly used to support our basketball program. For many of our students, this will be their first opportunity to participate in a team sport. By having the needed equipment, we will be able to allow our students to have access to the things they need to be most successful on the court.
