This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of a Integrated Co-Teaching class in a Title 1, high poverty area, in East Harlem, New York City. Most of our students come from predominantly Spanish speaking, multi cultural homes and so in my classroom, I have to bridge both languages with them. 98% of our student body is eligible for free lunch.

Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school every day eager to learn.

Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment.

Our students love technology but need much more access to it. iPads are the perfect tool for helping our kindergarten students learn through games and exposing them to technology.

My Project

We are striving to teach our students through interactive games. As the students become more proficient in certain subjects, we can update and add more programs.

iPads are a great way to keep students engaged while learning.

Apple has great apps that can introduce our kindergarten students into learning with technology. The iPads with headphones and case will provide practice with essential skills in print awareness, phonics, spelling, vocabulary, comprehension and writing. The math apps on the iPads will provide students the opportunity to recognize numbers and shapes, add and subtract, and listen to word problems.

In comparison to other tablets, the iPad offers differentiation such as audio and a larger screen.
