This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Dash robots and the Wonder Workshop coding curriculum is a fun way to introduce 2nd and 3rd graders to block coding. The robots are attractive and interactive. Students will learn 21st century skills that enhance their computer literacy while helping them to grow in other academic areas.
The online curriculum features a developmentally appropriate sequence of learning for students, making teaching coding fun and accessible to all.
My gifted 2nd and 3rd graders have had limited experience with block coding, utilizing free websites, such as Scratch. The library of lessons in the online curriculum will allow for purposeful instruction in coding.
I teach in a Title I school, in south Mississippi. My students are intellectually gifted and incredibly curious and creative. They love anything that is tech-related. For the 2023-2024 school year, they learned about electrical and mechanical energy through building crawler robots. They are ready to move on to more complex robotics including coding.
