My Students

Our classroom is a safe place for students to come and know that no matter what is going on in their life, it is a place where they will feel welcomed and accepted by everyone. The class is a mix of general education students, special education students, and students in need of Academic Intervention Services (AIS). These students come from a variety of economic backgrounds which means that the students come to us at many different levels. Our classroom design and learning experiences help students develop tolerance for people from all walks of life. Creating a positive and aesthetically pleasing learning environment contributes to the success of our students.

My Project

My goal is to provide fun and engaging learning opportunities for my students. Along with two of my colleagues, we will be designing Escape Rooms as an innovative way to teach our grade level curriculum.

The students will use many skills during the Escape Room activity such as problem-solving skills, teamwork, and collaboration while learning a specific skill or content.

The students will get clues that are related to the curriculum we are currently covering in the classroom. To add an element of competition I will use the vinyl to make t-shirts for each of the teams. The post-it notes will be for the groups to use throughout the process. The iPods will be used for codes requiring a QR reader and also for clues utilizing the VR goggles. Once students have completed all of the clues, they will be able to unlock the Breakout boxes! These materials will help me create a few different types of Escape Rooms throughout the year. Join me in helping my students master the curriculum through Escape Rooms!
