Help me give my students pencils, pencil sharpeners, note cards, envelopes, and stamps as well as ink cartridges for me so I can stay in touch with my students and let them know I care!
My urban school is said to have the district's most diverse student population, serving many immigrant families from Mexico, Central America, Eastern Europe, East Africa as well as Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, African and European Americans. The energy our school's diversity creates is palpable!
With the sudden closure of our elementary school due to COVID-19, many of my students find themselves without access to technology.
My students come to school each day with smiles on their faces. Join me in leveling the playing field by allowing my students the ability to express themselves and share their smiles through the mail.
My Project
I teach in a high-poverty elementary school and many of my students do not have access to technology. Due to our sudden school closure, and unsure when it will resume, I want to create weekly interactive writing notes with each of my students.
Your donation of pencils, pencil sharpeners, note cards, and stamps will allow me to write to my students weekly, to both check in with them, and foster writing skills!
My goal is to continue to foster a love of writing with my students, preserve our back and forth written conversations, and create a historical record of this extraordinary time.
