My Students

We have recently returned to school, in a hybrid model. I work in a Title I school, where more than 98% of our scholars qualify for free/reduced-price lunch. The majority of the scholars live in government-supported housing. This time has been very challenging for our families, personally and academically.

Our scholars may struggle in several aspects of their lives, but they strive for excellence and with the right supplies, their goals can be met.

Elementary scholars are most engaged when they feel seen and heard as individuals as part of our school community. Our diversity is our strength, let us build on gifts, with your gift.

My Project

Creating an interactive environment for our scholars ensures active, engaged learning. Picture magnets and pocket charts create endless possibilities for activities that promote interaction and communication skills, while helping them focus. I still believe in hands-on learning, especially after a year of electronic learning.

Scholars of all ages want to learn, the secret is to figure out what brings learning to life, for them.

I hope that the scholars will become curious enough to create their own activities using the magnets and charts. Some of the best lessons are when the scholars take the lead and the timer will keep them on track. The file folder pockets will help the session run smoothly, with materials easily accessible for each group.

I have been given a gift of a wonderful learning space. Pocket charts will help the scholars know where to focus for the day's activities. They are compact and versatile which will allow for the variety that keeps the scholars attention. The picture magnets allow me to vary our activities for engaged learning that can be customized for each learning group.
