Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very enthusiastic to learn new things in a STEAM Preschool. They learn through play and hands-on work during small group activities and free-choice time. Our new curriculum requires many small group activities where children use their creativity and engage in what they are learning. Due to the school's closing, we had to move our classroom to an online platform for distance learning. We struggle with technology and materials but we love school and we have 100% attendance most days. Many of my students are low-income families and we value their diversity in cultures and support their home language as needed for our students. As a teacher, I would like to help my students with all the materials that they need and do not have at home to promote high-quality education to ensure my students' success. I want to provide rich learning opportunities for each and every one of my students.
My Project
The learning experience of preschoolers is becoming richer and more dynamic thanks to new technologies. An interactive whiteboard and a projector are great for engaging students in learning and having interactive lessons.
The days of chalkboards are gone however our classroom still has a chalkboard.
Interactive whiteboards are changing what education looks like in the 21st century. Interactive whiteboards help audio, visual, and kinetic learners. Students are watching and listening to materials or even follow along on their own learning. Interactive whiteboards inspire students to write, draw, and edit directly on the screen making it simple for students to participate during a lesson. The more interactive the lesson, the more likely it that students will engage with and learn concepts effectively. Students also can have group time and share ideas. Lastly, interactive apps can be used to illustrate concepts and further teach interactive lessons. The interactive whiteboard will reinforce not only our STEAM curriculum but also prepare our students for the technology-rich world we live in. We really miss school and we want to continue learning by using the new technology when we come back.
