Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I started working at my school during the pandemic and walked into a school without any speech and language materials. I've slowly been trying building up my own materials, but I can tell that my students are starting to get bored with the same ol', same ol' materials. You'd never know though because you will never hear them complain. They will do whatever is asked of them, even if they struggle with the idea or concept.
My students are hard-working, bring joy wherever they go, and make me laugh every single day.
They are such technology-driven students, as many are, but don't always or haven't experienced the variety of tools available to them outside of an iPhone, tablet, or computer. I work at a Title I school with 90% of the families falling in the low socioeconomic status and although we are a technology-rich curriculum, we don't have anything that pushes our technology to the next level. I am blessed to work with a group of students and at a campus that truly is a family and I can't wait to push their brains to the next level with this gift.
My Project
After fully funding my interactive whiteboard, a few accessories have been found to be needed so the students can have full access to the board. These accessories include items that can not only go with the whiteboard directly but also protect the cords needed to connect all the devices. They include things like extended cords to connect the whiteboard to the computer safely to prevent tripping; a class-set of whiteboard markers to increase their independence; a step stool for the little kindergarteners and first graders; and extra pens to allow more students at the board.
