Interactive Technology in the Gym

Help me give my students an iPad to use in the gym. Our district uses Smart Board technology and an iPad will allow for the students to be able to interact with the board themselves to create.

My Students

My PE students come from various backgrounds. The one thing that ties them together is their eagerness to learn. At an inner-city elementary school you hear of the hardships that families are going through, but you would never know it by looking at the students. They come to school with a smile on their face most every day even though they will have daily challenges to overcome.

I have had opportunities to transfer to the middle schools and the high school over the years, but I chose every time without hesitating to stay at the elementary level because of the kids.

My Project

We use Bluetooth technology often in the gym for videos and presentations for the students to interact with and perform. A clumsy laptop isn't ideal. Being able to carry an iPad around as we perform different tasks does and it allows us to change what the students are looking at immediately with out having to stop and move to the keyboard.

With the continued emphasis on technology the addition of an iPad will allow the students to help create content which will give them more ownership of individual lessons.

The iPad is perfect for elementary students due to its size and easy to use capabilities. It is something we have wished for in our gymnasium.
