Interactive Science Notebooks For Our Budding Scientists

Help me give my students notebooks to start the new school year for their science class. Our budding scientists will be transforming these notebooks into interactive science notebooks to refine their note-taking, data collection, and observation skills.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of diverse students that travel from all over Brooklyn, NY to attend middle school. We house over 1400 students from various ethnic backgrounds. The school is a welcoming environment, that encourages higher-level learning, while supporting the students at every step.

In my science classroom, ALL students are learners!

No matter how students are classified, I want my students to utilize ALL possible resources to enhance their learning experience. My students enter my classroom in the beginning of the year as curious learners eager to learn science. I hope to provide my students will all the possible tools and resources so they can develop into budding scientists OUTSIDE of the classroom. My goal as a science teacher is for ALL my students to take their classroom experience and apply it to their everyday lives.

In order to strengthen their learning experience, with such a diverse group of learners, providing them with various entrance points to a topic is crucial. So many of my students learn best through independent research, reading articles, watching documentaries, and engaging in hands-on activities.

My Project

The composition notebooks I am requesting will be used by students to create their interactive science notebooks. Students will learn how to organize their work in their interactive notebooks. Our interactive notebooks will serve as a tool for students to collect data while conducting experiments inside and outside of the classroom. Students will be able to record their observations directly into their notebooks. In our notebooks, students will also be able to learn new science vocabulary using their "Key Terms" section that will be a part of every student's notebook.

By donating to this project, you will providing my students the fundamental supplies that a budding scientist would need to observe and record the scientific world around them and promote scientific literacy.

Students will learn organization and note-taking skills that are essential for high school, college and career readiness.
