Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My special needs students view each day as an opportunity to learn and explore the world around them. They develop their minds with new skills every day. My incredible students are filled to the brim with energy and enthusiasm for learning.
Our school is Title I and located in a low socioeconomic community with limited resources.
All of my students receive free school lunch and are classified as English language learners. As part of a special day program, my students must be exposed to grade level standards. As a result, my students must be organized and able to quickly access materials for the appropriate skills set and activities of the day.
Students in my classroom are students with special needs like Autism, Spina Bifida, Dyslexia, and several other disabilities.

I teach an energetic group of special needs students.
We need engaging strategies to keep them motivated to learn. Allowing students to work around the room with interactive notebooks and brightly colored materials helps keep their attention.
My students love their interactive notebooks. Unluckily these notebooks consume a lot of materials that are not supplied by the school. Things like notebooks, watercolors and glue sticks need to be replenished every now and then. In fth Special Day Class setting we really need multiple colors of watercolors in order to identify multiple sources of information within pictographs, texts, and art projects. The notebooks will be used to allow students to work around the room and keep their work neat.
Having these donations will allow our lessons to continue uninterrupted.
Without the proper materials for all students it is difficult in such a large class to have students share. Quite a bit of time can be lost waiting for students to finish using glue or scissors. These supplies will have a very positive impact for my students.
