Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The touch screen laptop will help us project interactive math lessons to a Promethean Board. The touch screen allows for more intuitive manipulation of the digital elements, enabling us to switch between tools quickly, draw shapes, and solve equations in real-time, which can then be mirrored onto the Promethean Board. This setup captivates students' attention through vivid visuals and animations and encourages participation. For instance, we could use interactive math games, digital manipulatives, and problem-solving activities designed to support English language learners and students with special educational needs (SPED) by providing visual and hands-on learning experiences, which are crucial in understanding and retaining complex mathematical concepts.
The primary goal of this project is to leverage the combined capabilities of a touchscreen laptop and a Promethean Board to create a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that accommodates the diverse needs of students from low-income families, English language learners, and those receiving special education services (SPED).
By incorporating technology that supports interactive and visual learning, the project aims to enhance students' mathematical skills, foster a collaborative classroom atmosphere, and ultimately improve academic outcomes for all students, regardless of their background or learning challenges.
What makes my students unique is their resilience and determination to learn despite the barriers they face. By providing them with access to cutting-edge educational technology, we can help bridge the academic gap, making learning more accessible, enjoyable, and effective. This project is about improving test scores and empowering students with the confidence and skills they need to succeed in school and beyond, fostering a lifelong love for learning.
