My students need differentiated, organized literacy materials including color-coded paper, stickers and organizational boxes for materials. Students also need new headphones for a reading program they use daily for intervention.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In 2017-2018 I will be working as a Master Teacher in a mixed age level classroom. My school is located in a low income, urban area, and more than 90% of students receive free lunch. My classroom will be a mixed age/grade level, and I will be working purposefully to meet the needs of students by identifying skills that they struggle with and implementing instruction to meet individual needs as an intervention.
The students will have longer days and attend a summer program to prevent regression and provide additional time for intensive instruction.
My goal for my students is to help them identify skills that they need to work on, identify strengths, and provide hands-on, fun, inquiry-based instruction based on student learning styles. I also want them to create their goals and provide opportunities to celebrate success, as well as provide students with enough support to transition them to their grade level class.
My Project
I need interactive literacy resources such as colored cardstock and paper for interactive journals when students write about and respond to reading and clipboards for working around the room with partners and in groups during writing time. My students need colored paper and stickers for easy differentiation, interactive literacy materials and organizational containers for easy cleanup!
Students also need headphones with a microphone attachment to use with reading intervention lessons they use daily.
Half of my students purchased headphones, and five of the headphones no longer work so we are in dire need of new headphones especially with the microphone attachment to keep from distractions. Students typically use the reading intervention program on the iPad with no headphones and talk into the iPad microphone, since most headphones don't have dual microphone/headphone abilities.
Many of the students I work with and at my school have family members who are active military members or veterans. For Veteran's Day we did many activities and students shared with me they have family members who have served in the military. The PTA also created an amazing Veteran's Day Wall at the entrance of our school honoring students' family members who are Veterans or in active military. It wasn't until then that I realized how many students at my school have family members serving in the military. Any donations provided will be impacting military families and a community of military service members! Any donations will be greatly appreciated!
