My Students

I will be teaching math to approximately 100 unique seventh graders. I say “unique” because I always love getting to know each one of my students for his/her interesting personality and diverse background. Our middle school is composed of 34% African American, 35% Hispanic, 4% Multi-racial and 26% White students.

Many of my students live well below the poverty line.

All students at my school receive a free lunch. Although some of the students at my school may not have an ideal home life, I want my classroom to be a wonderful, warm and challenging place for all of my students to experience every day.

My Project

Math can be hard and frustrating for some students, and easy for others. My goal is to make math fun and engaging for all students. By having headphones in my classroom, my students will be able to watch and listen to learning videos that are student-made and teacher-made. Headphones will help me reach students on a more individual level. If a student is struggling with a concept, they can re-watch a learning video in order to build their understanding. Students that need more of a challenge can enrich their learning with learning activities and videos that push and challenge them.
