Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. The school I currently work at has 75% of its students receiving free or reduced lunch. Many students come from various backgrounds socially, economically, linguistically, and physically that may present struggles to be successful in a school setting. Despite the many challenges they face, students come in eager and ready to learn about the world around them.
Our science classroom is a positive, safe environment where learning takes place through a variety of interactive activities to enrich their learning.
Through these activities, I am hoping to close the achievement gap and prepare my students for a lifetime of learning. Science is a critical content filled with lifelong skills. I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. I want to gear interactive technological activities that geared towards disengaged students, making them excited to come to class, encouraging academic success, encouraging students to come to school and be excited about the learning opportunities I have set up. The use of this technology will be geared to small group instruction to support understanding of the content.
My Project
The 2 in 1 chromebook will allow students the chance to be part of hands on learning through technology. Interactive learning through the use of technology in science will allow students a unique experience in the classroom. Technology is imperative in today's society for students to learn necessary skills to work and grow.
Students will use technology to work through virtual labs, simulations, and activities that they normally would not have the opportunity to do.
Technology will also support small group learning to help close the learning gap and strengthen science skills. Small group student work will help students gain a deeper understanding of the curriculum to apply to the real word.
