Interactive Learning Tables

Help me give my students 2 new rectangular tables that they deserve. Wobbly, scratched, and broken tables are a huge distraction. Our school doesn't have the budget for new furniture to accommodate our growing class size.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day curious, energetic and full of life. We start each day with compassion and forgiveness by giving compliments or positive affirmations about the day that is ahead of us.

I teach at a Title I school in Baltimore City where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students have experienced unimaginable hardships and trauma during the course of their short lives. For many, school is the only place where they are able to feel safe, have stability, and feel loved. Our school is a community school, and also runs a food pantry, an after school program, as well as G.E.D. and parenting classes to help support our families.

Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and engage with their peers. Many of my students are eager to come to school and reluctant to leave. They want to be in school because they want to learn in an environment that promotes individuality and having a growth mindset.

My Project

It's time for our room to receive a makeover so that every student has the learning space they deserve. Throughout this school year, our class size has continued to grow. As we welcome new scholars, our learning spaces seem to shrink and go into disrepair. The tables that I have requested are just the beginning of our journey to make our classroom a place that has the capacity to accommodate all of our friends and create a learning environment where everyone is able to thrive!

With our new whiteboard tables, learning becomes more interactive and engaging!

We can use the tables as writing surfaces during small group and workshop time. To little people, it's all fun and games, but as adults we know they learn best when they are having fun. These tables will be another resource to make learning fun, engaging, and interactive. My littles deserve a reasonable space to learn!
