My Students

The students at our school are special because they embrace creativity, kindness, and hard work. My fourth graders last year created their own foundation: CAP (Cancer Awareness & Prevention) and raised money by knitting their own animals, making bath scrubs, and more. They collected and donated food and needed materials to Marines stationed in Japan, and they supported, complimented, and encouraged each other through difficult tasks, projects, and school shows. I can't wait to see what my third graders have in store for me this year, but I know that they will be a group full of kindness!

My Project

Between the two schools I have been at so far in my career, I have heard: "Our school is using too much paper." So, I decided to make a change. Good Morning Tubs will greatly reduce the paper that I use in my classroom. I used to hand out morning work everyday to 21 students. For a school year of 181 days, that's 3,801 pieces of paper! Besides that, the students were not engaged or having fun.

I heard about morning work tubs and thought they would be an amazing way to get my students engaged in a fun, creative, and meaningful morning activity.

With tubs, students can choose their own activity and be up and out of their desks to start their day! Students can make a choice, students can use their voices, and students can interact with each other in a positive environment. I'm extremely excited to get my morning tubs started and to keep you posted with how they work! I am ordering activities such as Boggle, Jenga, Story Cube dice, Tangoes, Bananagrams, and more! When students are finished with their morning routine of putting their backpacks away, making their lunch choice, and handing in any homework/notes, they will be free to choose a paperless activity. Let the fun learning begin!
