An essential part of being a Concert Band percussionist is building technique and skill on a variety of instruments. Currently, my percussion students have been working on basic technique with mallet percussion (bells and xylophone), snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, timpani, and some auxiliary percussion (like triangle and wind chimes, for example).
By donating to our project, you will directly support students' technique and skill on new percussion instruments.
Students would be able to learn the proper technique for concert floor tom and concert tom-tom set (two pitched tom drums), and add to their auxiliary percussion technique with rain stick and sleigh bells. Students would also get to perform on these new instruments right away at our school's next Music Department concert!
My percussion students are eager learners who delight in their unique role as players of multiple instruments. Their individual hard work and collaboration as a section supports and enhances the full Concert Band ensemble. Increasing the quality of their experience in our ensemble by continuing to expand their knowledge of and experience with many percussion instruments truly makes the experience of every Concert Band student better!
