My Students

"Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." - Auerbach Berthold. This year begins the start of a campaign to provide instruments to every student in band at my school which will help these kids experience the positivity and fun that music provides to all ages.

The high poverty area where I teach does not discourage my students from loving music.

On the contrary, they have an amazing appetite for it. Even with limited resources and space, we still manage to learn and grow in fun and exciting ways to become better musicians every day. Fifth grade is the toughest year because so many students want to try an instrument and be a part of the band, but some just can't. The number one reason for this is that many families do not have the money necessary to provide their children with an instrument and thus they forgo an amazing experience for their son or daughter with no fault to them. This is a deserving school which needs exposure to the arts and music and, with public support, all of this and more can be realized.

My Project

Providing a new saxophone to my students will help several students love and appreciate music for many years to come. Their education in music will reach new levels and push them to foster a love of music that is sometimes only attained when given such an incredible opportunity to succeed. Not only will they learn how to play an instrument in a band, but they will be developing 21st century skills that will help them in the future.

I believe that every child deserves to be able to experience band, and with this donation a few more students will be able to participate.

Music is a powerful tool and can help reach so many different types of students. From the bookworm to the athlete, all are welcomed.
