Students can only learn best when their immediate needs are first met, including hunger. Oftentimes, snacks are a luxury that many families struggle to provide. During the time when SNAP benefits were withheld and the holiday season was approaching, the snacks you donated to our classroom made an incredible impact on our students physical, emotional, and academic growth. \r\n\r\nOur fifth grade students have not only developed a deeper sense of security in the classroom knowing that they have snacks to help them get through their days, but have also learned a valuable life lesson about the importance of helping others in need. As a way of turning your donation into a learning opportunity, students have learned about the mission behind DonorsChoose and how our classroom snacks were generously donated by someone who cares about the needs of students. As the snack packages continued to roll in, students were astonished when they realized that a stranger spent their own money to donate a hefty supply of classroom snacks.\r\n\r\nTo pay this generous donation forward, students have been volunteering their time to help teachers and staff in our school community. As we have talked about the importance of helping others in ways we are capable of, they realized that they could offer their time to others. From cleaning the lunch tables to sweeping the cafeteria and picking up trash on school grounds, students have been giving their time and energy to positively impact their learning community. These life lessons, which were sparked by your generosity, are helping our fifth graders develop the skills they need to be responsible, respectful, and active citizens.\r\n\r\nThank you for generous donation and supporting the needs of our students!","fullyFundedDate":1760719678370,"projectUrl":"project/5th-grade-classroom-snacks/9771803/","projectTitle":"5th Grade Classroom Snacks","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bernier","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10293504"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44715","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":144,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"6.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":61.3,"schoolId":44715,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mountain View School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mountain View School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maine/rsu-24/mountain-view-school/44715"}
