This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a music teacher for a wonderful public school in the east bay area. My students are very talented singers. I teach a kinder/first grade combo, along with three first grade rooms, four second grade rooms, four third grade rooms, three fourth grade rooms and two 4-5 combo classrooms. I teach a lot of students and we have fun learning music together.

Each year the students give winter and spring vocal music concerts for their families.

The students work hard to learn all of their songs. They are talented students who practice weekly until our concert is ready to present.

Each grade level from kindergarten through fifth grade learns five songs along with three finale songs which all the grade levels sing together.

My Project

I feel that this Yamaha digital piano will support my students musically during vocal rehearsals and performances. I notice that my younger elementary age students exhibit confidence and assuredness when they sing with me accompanying them on the piano. Unfortunately, our acoustic piano is continually out of tune and very old which doesn't support the students musically in the way I would like for them to feel musically supported. I think that a Yamaha digital piano will allow me to support my students musically while they sing their concert music for their families. This May 14, 2019, my first through fourth graders will give a spring vocal concert for their families. I hope our wish comes true and we can receive this Yamaha digital piano before our big spring concert date!
