My Students

My students live in Charlotte, NC and attend public school in CMS. They are in grades PreK-Fifth. My elementary school is one of the most diverse schools in the nation. The diversity at this school makes it a great place to work. I use music as a tool to teach empathy, the value of practice and hard work, teamwork, literacy, and mostly--the value and joy of music!

I am a third-year teacher and am continually assessing the best way to teach my students, and the best environment to do so in.

My Project

These containers will be used to store instruments in an easy and accessible way. Right now I have all colors of my "Boomwhackers" (instruments made out of hollow tubes) in one bin. These bins will make the process of getting instruments out and putting them away a lot quicker. An organized classroom helps lessons flow smoothly and there is more time to learn music that way. These color-coded bins will help out my younger students identify which notes/instruments are in the bins. I have six colors of boomwhackers, so these bins will match perfectly and will keep everything organized for the students
