I am a K-2 music teacher in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, where 89% of students qualify for free lunch.
I am asking for a selection of instruments for the classroom so that my students have an opportunity to explore a variety of sounds. I hope to use these instruments to help students learn fundamentals of rhythm, composition, and improvisation.
Instruments that I am asking for include a set of bongos, claves, congas, a tambourine and a guiro. These instruments have great unique sounds that can be used not only in exploring musical qualities, but Latin culture as well. I would also like to have some glockenspiels in the classroom so that we can have meaningful experiences with pitched instruments.
My students would really appreciate the opportunity to play and experiment on various instruments. There are endless possibilities of how we can use these instruments to enhance musical skills and experiences. Thank you for your consideration.
