My Students

Have you ever been in a situation where someone tells you that you are doing an activity a certain way and it needs to be corrected. No matter how many times they attempt to show you what you are doing wrong, you just can't see it.

We are in a Midwestern urban city where many students come from broken homes.

Transportation to and from school is a toss up everyday. Many parents are unemployed. The economy has hit the area hard and most people are not recovering. I could tell you about the 2nd graders who have to babysit their kindergarten age siblings. School is a safe haven for them and Music is an escape.

My Project

I just want them to see what they are doing. Whether I use it as a teaching tool to correct mistakes, or I use it to give them some pride in what they are doing, I want them to see what they are doing both incorrectly and correctly. The tripod is to help out my shaky hands so the filming is steady and smooth.

More and more, teachers are being asked for precise feedback.

What could be more precise than a video of what they are doing? My students have made so many strides to become better people through music. This is just the next step in the process.
