My Project

Due to school closures in our district, our K-6 elementary school is seeing an influx of new students. This means my music classes will grow to between 25 and 30 students per class. Currently, I have 20 barred instruments (glockenspiels, xylophones, etc.) that students must share or rotate through during our 40 minute class time, which means that students have very limited hands on time with the instruments. Many students sit side by side behind small instruments playing with too few notes to accurately play songs. In some classes, though, students are forced to sit and wait for their turn on the instrument for half the short class time.

The addition of 6 more barred instruments will allow many classes the chance to play for the entire class period without sharing instruments at all and will allow all classes to only require students to share the biggest instruments.

With almost 500 students in the school, this addition will effect a large population for many years to come. By funding this project, you will give students an outlet to be creative and express themselves through music.
