Our school is growing by 300 students, but our resources and book collections are not growing! With resources being spread thin, our students will be missing out on great, educational opportunities!
Our middle school students come to us from various parts of the surrounding city.
Our school is labeled as high poverty due to the needs of our students. They face daily challenges that many of us can't even imagine. Despite the obstacles, their education remains a priority to them! School is a safe haven - a place to feel loved, protected, and valued.
"Speak" is a novel that our students can relate with closely. As they face the daily challenges of school, bullying, cliques and understanding who they are as individuals, it is important that they not feel alone in this journey. "Speak" is a novel that follows a young girl through the trials every teenager faces along with life lessons she is forced the face along the way. This novel is so relative to the lives of our students. Reading this novel will allow them to gain a new perspective and understanding of themselves as individuals and as a community of learners.
Reading opens your eyes and leaves a lasting impression on your mind!
