This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love to watch my student learn by applying what they have read to solve a real-world problem. For an educator, this is a true synthesis of knowledge. I teach special education students and hands-on activities give them the opportunity to show what they know. It is difficult for students with learning disabilities or with language barriers to show what they know or to come up with ideas to write about. The design process helps the students become interested in what they are learning. It develops their ability to problem solve and to create a plan to solve the problem. I have been successful in enhancing student learning all year but I need more help. We want to create a flight simulator next year and build our STEM library! My students have learned to program this year, they have engineered how to build a catapult while reading about simple machines. We learned about friction and experimented with making spinners out of different materials. Please help me keep enriching my students' learning!
