Your donation has already made a meaningful difference in our daily learning environment, and I'm excited to share how we are using these new materials with our students.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful additions has been our writing resources. We recently started a \"Real World Writing\" project where students are practicing practical skills like writing letters, filling out simple forms, and creating short personal narratives. Using the Evan-Moor writing books, students worked on writing a letter to a \"future employer\" describing their strengths and interests. For many of them, this was both challenging and empowering—they were able to connect writing to real-life situations in a way that felt relevant and motivating.\r\n\r\nAnother standout moment came when we introduced the social-emotional learning Emotion Tower game. Students were immediately engaged and eager to participate. It opened up meaningful conversations about feelings, self-regulation, and peer interactions. Some students who are typically hesitant to share began expressing themselves more openly, which has been incredibly rewarding to witness.\r\n\r\nThe sensory tools—like the chair bands, fidget keychains, and light covers—have also made a noticeable difference. When students first saw the updated classroom setup, especially the calming lighting and flexible seating supports, their reactions were full of excitement. Many commented on how the room felt \"calmer\" and \"more comfortable.\" Since then, we've seen improved focus, fewer disruptions, and greater independence during work time.\r\n\r\nWe've also been incorporating the sight word materials and reading supports into small group instruction. The guided reading strips and activity dice have turned reading practice into something interactive and fun, helping students build confidence and fluency.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps include expanding our writing project into a classroom \"community newsletter,\" where students will collaborate to write articles, share opinions, and practice editing skills using the Daily Paragraph Editing books. We also plan to continue building social-emotional skills through structured activities and discussions, helping students strengthen both academic and life skills.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has created opportunities for growth, engagement, and confidence that our students truly needed. Your support helped us to purchase new soft bags for two cellos whose bags had broken, as well as an individual bass stand. These items have not only provided safety and protection for instruments that were previously lying on the floor exposed to the elements, but also have allowed two of my cello students to take their instruments home to practice.\r\n\r\nThe most heartwarming moment of this project was seeing the impact it had on my two cello students. Both had been so excited to take their instruments home and practice, but they could not because they did not have functioning cases to transport their instruments. They had been waiting patiently since school started in July. When the first cello bag arrived in October, I allowed the student who was going to be the recipient to open the package. The project photos for this project capture the utter joy of the moment. She was so excited to finally have her own cello bag, and she couldn't wait to take her cello home that day. She proudly packed it into the bag and put it over her shoulders, exclaiming \"I can't wait to show my family that I FINALLY have my own cello bag!\"\r\n\r\nSince the day they received the bags, both students have faithfully taken their cellos home every week. They have put in hours of practice that have helped them to significantly improve their musical abilities. None of this would have been possible without your support of this project.
