Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in a rural area of Fresno County. Most of my students are children of migrant farm workers with limited income and less than desirable living conditions. They understand the need of an education and value the opportunity to learn. I find joy knowing I am making a difference not by just teaching them but also by providing a comfortable environment.
94% of our students are hispanic, second language learners.
We strive to work together to solve problems and share our progress with learning the academic language. Our classroom is like family. Each student feels comfortable sharing and learning from their mistakes regardless of the language barrier.
My Project
The use of a binding comb machine in my classroom will greatly benefit my students in many different subjects. For example. building mastering mathematics workbooks allows for the students to have all of their math in one place. Throughout the year my students will also have three different writing performance tasks as well as a report.
The harder you work for something, the greater you will feel when you achieve it!
Having a binding comb machine gives me the opportunity to publish my students writing into a bound book. It is important to me that my students feel a sense of pride in their work. By providing them a bound book of all of their work samples they will build confidence in themselves.
