My Students

My students are absolutely wonderful and so full of energy. I teach in a rural area, and many of the students come from disadvantaged circumstances and need a positive and enriching experience when they walk through the doors of our school. My goal is to create an environment focused on learning and make a positive impact in their lives to encourage them to become productive citizens in society and dream big! I want to meet the needs of every student in my classroom by providing an experience that drives curiosity and creates a craving to learn more.

My Project

Guided reading is such an important component in the elementary classroom. Through the use of centers and small group instruction, teachers are able to meet the students where they are and focus on specific needs for each individual student. Small group instruction is intense and so effective in helping students to be be better readers.

Book boxes allow students to keep a variety of reading materials at their fingertips to build stamina and increase interest in reading.

Research has shown that students that are exposed to a wide range of reading materials are better readers and have a wider range of vocabulary. Help me to give every student the opportunity and inspiration to be great readers!
