My students need 35 copies and worksheets of "Chasing Vermeer," by Blue Balliett and pentominoes for a literature study to enhance math skills.

Do you remember the excitement of a new book just waiting to be read? Don't you love to challenge yourself to solve mysteries using clues?

As a teacher of gifted and talented students, I am always looking for literature that captures their attention.

My classroom is the home to academically gifted and talented students. They are always eager for new experiences through literature. Their imaginations run wild!

My Project

"Chasing Vermeer" is a wonderful piece of children's literature that captures the attention of its readers. My students will read and learn to pay close attention to details while reading. The students will take notes in their journals, infer using clues, and make predictions. The students will also be exposed to the visual arts as a means for solving the mysteries in the story. The students will learn higher-order mathematical thinking by using pentominoes to help solve the mystery right along with the main characters.

I believe that this book will inspire my students to look for clues and relationships throughout the story.

It is important for gifted students to learn to value relationships and how they impact the real world!
