Help me give my students the experience of a lifetime! Participating in this program through NatureBridge will give my students the rare opportunity to be immersed in nature as a community, growing in their environmental literacy together.
My class is full of promising students who have unique life experiences that enrich the diversity of our school. Many of my students come from immigrant families and low-income backgrounds. Despite the challenges that they may face in and out of the classroom, my 22 third graders come to school and do their best to be ready to take on any task.
My students are determined learners with a sense of humor that propels them through each day with joy.
They carry a positive attitude and push their way through when they encounter an obstacle. When one stumbles, others lift the student up. When one succeeds, the others cheer the student on. My students have great camaraderie and they easily extend their friendship to others. Their genuine love for learning, as well as their pure care for others, brightens up any space they occupy. It's a privilege to be their teacher!
My students will be provided with a multitude of opportunities by participating in this trip. They will have the privilege of having nature as their classroom for three days! One amazing benefit of this trip is that it will allow the students to understand history up close by experiencing first-hand the amazing ways that Native Americans utilized the local land.
Not only will the students connect with the history of our world as it relates to nature, but they will also make sense of the present and future state of our world in a relevant way through the environmental learning opportunities provided by this trip.
The students will have the chance to spend quality time with nature through hiking and interacting with creatures. They will also see how human actions are impacting the environment through lessons and observation. This trip will allow for the learning students usually receive in a textbook to actually be experienced by the students as it comes to life through this trip.
