Help me give my students awesome STEM journals and a perfect read-aloud so I can guide them through the engineering design process while the adorable instant camera will provide hand's on documentation and talking points.
I work with students that are advanced in their thinking and learning. It is exciting and demanding to keep my students challenged in the classroom. Students must qualify for this accelerated program by performing very well on set above grade-level assessments.
We love integrating STEM and Engineering tools in our classroom.
I enjoy working on and preparing STEM lessons for these high achieving learners. They come to school eager to be challenged and are expected to succeed at high levels. Although my students are more advanced academically than their peers, they are still 7 or 8 years old. Like all second graders, they are full of energy and love to play and learn with friends! This project will facilitate progress in both social skills and learning goals.
My Project
STEM journals and an instant camera will make a huge difference in how my students explore the engineering design process.
The Engineering process will be integrated into my plans through the use of STEM journals.
The camera will be used to highlight projects and STEM content, making learning more concrete for students. Students will report and explain their learning. I believe that STEM can be enhanced through the use of children's literature. I am a STEM endorsed teacher trying to build a STEM-engaged classroom. I have chosen materials for this project that will compliment STEM construction kits I purchased myself. The activities will integrate nicely with our language arts curriculum and our physical science core. Collaborative groups of students will design, write about, and present their projects to peers.
I've noticed many social and academic improvements in my students since integrating STEM tools with my current lesson plans. I am igniting student imaginations and creativity daily. The active collaborative problem solving in student groups and partners has increased. It's exciting and there is synergy in the room as students engage in their work. Please help these future engineers succeed!
