My Project

This project is entirely driven by the leadership and empathy of our National Junior Honor Society students. They have recognized that middle school can be a tough environment, and they want to change the culture by "flooding" our school with intentional acts of kindness.

We want to create a "Take What You Need" Hub: Students will design and maintain a massive, interactive bulletin board in the main hallway.

It will be stocked with notes offering things like "Strength," "A Smile," "Confidence," or "Patience" for any student passing by.

To combat the negativity often found in shared spaces, students will create and install laminated —positive affirmations—on the back of every bathroom stall door in the middle school.

Middle school is a pivotal time for social-emotional development; by targeting high-traffic areas like the hallways and bathrooms, our students are ensuring their message reaches every single peer. The benefit is twofold it fosters a culture of belonging and reduces the feelings of isolation that many middle schoolers face.

To turn these ideas into a reality, NJHS students need the supplies. The materials requested, including cardstock, markers, bulletin board materials, and Post-it notes, will be used directly by the students to lead this. Students will use these to create high-quality and eye-catching displays.
