Help me give my students an AquaSprouts aquaponics set and a 10-gallon aquarium set in order to explore plant and animal life and the delicate balance of ecosystems in nature.

My Students
I am a first-year teacher at a Title I school in Northern Utah. I adore my spunky 2nd graders. This active group of 25 is diverse in both ability level and culture. My students are delighted by hands-on, inquiry-based projects. I find that when my children are inspired by "wonder" based learning, I merely guide them and hang on!
Lighting a fire in the heart of a child for learning is the best kind of magic!
Nearly all of my students have listed Science as their favorite subject. They also adore learning about the natural world. My dream is to have a classroom that pulls in some of the wonders of the natural world directly into the hands of my students.
My Project
My classroom does not include any windows to the outdoors. I would love to bring the "outdoors" in! Bringing in an aquaponics system into the classroom will allow my students to observe first hand living plants and animals. In addition, they can observe daily how organisms in a mini-ecosystem support each other.
An aquaponics system in my classroom will inspire discussion, inquiry, imagination, writing, and a desire to care for the natural world.
I have seen first hand how students, even (and especially) struggling students, come alive to learning when introduced to "wonder." Please help me to inspire my students!
