Inspire Students with iPad Imagery

My students need an iPad so they have access to the Internet to look up imagery and to inspire their artwork.

My Students

My students are technologically driven and although I think using books as a reference is important, having access to images on the Internet is equally important. We have labs in our library but it's challenging with transition and behavior when I'm constantly sending them out of the room to the labs.

I teach six different visual arts courses.

Some of my students have never had an art course and some have been creating art all of their lives. The school I teach at is a traditional urban high school. We have a large enrollment at around 1400 students in the building.

My Project

I've always imagined having a computer or an iPad station in my classroom where students could look up images, and have the Internet at their tips for research. This will allow for easy access and will help cut down on traffic flow in and out of my classroom to a computer lab. I know that iPads have fantastic resources, apps and programs that I could also download for students to use for projects. Last year we created a class video using their relief cut prints and music based on social justice issues, and then presented the video at a youth conference to Leymah Gbowee a Nobel Laureate. I know there are even more opportunities that I can incorporate an iPad into for lesson plans that I haven't thought of yet. An iPad is an additional resource that will enhance my students learning.

An iPad will improve my classroom by providing an additional resource in my room.

My courses are all about gaining new experiences and creating art. I want to give opportunities to my students like many other students have in other schools and having an iPad in my room would help to do that.
