My students need a classroom library that meets their age and reading level needs. This includes several book sets, such as Guardians of Ga'Hoole, Pretty Little Liars and Manga Math Mysteries. Individual books include I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban, Page by Paige and Rules. Since I have been their teacher for the past three years, they have all matured, but my library has remained the same.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at an independent, public charter school in the Mission District of San Francisco. Our students come from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds from all over the Bay Area. Many live in the neighborhood and walk to school with me, but some travel long distances to get here. Ours is a Title I school with a population of mostly English Language Learners.
My students are the best; I love them so much that I have looped with them for the past three years!
As their 4th, 5th, and now 6th grade teacher, I am amazed by what curious, inquisitive, thoughtful students they are. Now in their first year as middle-schooler students, they are growing and changing so fast and encountering new challenges every day. Despite everything they deal with on a daily basis, they come to school each day, eager, optimistic, and hopeful about their futures.
My Project
My students need a classroom library that meets their age and reading level needs. This includes several book sets, such as Guardians of Ga'Hoole, Pretty Little Liars and Manga Math Mysteries. Individual books include I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban, Page by Paige and Rules. Since I have been their teacher for the past three years, they have all matured, but my library has remained the same. My students have limited access to literature outside the classroom. Many have no one to read with at home or lack the time to read once they leave school. Since I have been their teacher for the past three years, they have grown up but my library has remained the same.
My sweet peas need age appropriate books that will inspire them to continue reading through these challenging middle school years.
Many of my students are going through difficult times right now and they use reading as a welcome escape from their daily lives. They need books that offer more mature themes that they can relate to as well as books that allow them to exercise their imaginations.
